Credo’s Cache

Each week we will be highlighting important resources. Check back each Friday to see what we have dug up for you. From this week’s cache:

1. The Doctrine of Election Saved Me From Depression: Jimmy Needham – Needham says, “For many years, what immediately came into my mind when I thought about God crippled me. Depression was a constant companion. Fear about the genuineness of my conversion haunted me like a ghost. I couldn’t see it at the time, but my feelings were symptoms of my misguided theology. God was small. Worse than that, he was weak. Worse even still, he was fickle in his love toward me. It led me into despair.”

2. Interview with D.A. Carson: Fred Zaspel – Check out this interview between Dr. Fred Zaspel and Dr. D.A. Carson.

3. The Orthodoxy of Community: Burk Parsons – Parsons says, “The love language of all marriages is self-denial. When both husband and wife are consumed not with their own immediate happiness but with the happiness of one another, they will enjoy a happy marriage. The same is true for enduring friendships and for authentic community.”

4. Reassurance: The Needed Component in Reconciliation: Barry York – York says, “Yet if years of ministry have taught me anything, it is that this hard-earned peace can be fragile. Wounds take time to heal. Trust requires effort to rebuild. Old patterns of avoidance in the relationship die slowly. Communication can be awkward.”

5. Woman, Behold, Your Son!: Sean Nolan – Nolan notes, “Christ’s body had been given to establish a new, interdependent body. A family united not through the blood of shared ancestry, but through the blood of Christ. As a family they would rely on one another in times of rejoicing as well as suffering.”
