Credo’s Cache

Each week we will be highlighting important resources. Check back each Friday to see what we have dug up for you. From this week’s cache:

1. The Sound of SilenceBy Kevin DeYoung – DeYoung says: “This is almost an absolute rule: if you look around your congregation and people are barely singing, there is something wrong with your worship services.”

2. The Deep Waters of Biblical ExpositionBy Mark Hampton – Hampton notes: “Seek God in the process and make every attempt to get elbow deep into the well so that your bucket spills over and onto the thirsting lips of those who are parched! Do not be discouraged at this daunting task, rather, be encouraged that we have such a tremendously deep and rich resource from which to draw.”

3. What is the Secret of Joy in Suffering?By John Piper – Piper says: “The secret of joy in the hardest of times in this book is the supremacy of the sovereignty of Christ and the supremacy of the sweetness of Christ.”

4. Assurance: How Do I Know I am a Christian?By Mark Jones – Jones says: “How do you know you are a Christian? Beware of easy-to-fix theological answers to complex spiritual problems. Poor theology usually offers quick fixes (i.e., a silver bullet approach). And people love quick fixes, which is why bad theology will always remain popular this side of glory.”

5. Moving People from Offense to the TruthBy Brett Kunkle – Kunke says: “In the same way, sharing the truth with our non-Christian friends is evidence of our love for them. Assure your friends you’re not trying to unnecessarily offend them. Make it clear the pursuit of truth, in love, is your motivation.”
