Credo’s Cache

Each week we will be highlighting important resources. Check back each Friday to see what we have dug up for you. From this week’s cache:

1. Happy 75th Birthday, R.C.By Chris Larson – Larson notes: “How grateful we are for God’s calling on Dr. Sproul’s life and his sustaining grace.” In honor of Dr. Sproul’s 75th birthday make sure to check out some of the several thousand notes that he received.

2. Why Preach through Books of the Bible?By Phil Newton – Newton notes: “But in the end, as pastor and congregation grow together in expounding and hearing God’s Word, a depth and satisfaction with God’s Word will certainly take place. I cannot imagine any pastor preaching through books of the Bible, and then looking back and saying, ‘I wished that I had not spent so much time preaching through books of the Bible to the people for whom I will give an account to God.'”

3. A Deeper Look at the Most Popular Worship Song of 2013By Trevin Wax – Wax says: “Overall, ‘10,000 Reasons’ is one of the worship songs I most enjoy singing. It’s a beautiful melody based on a beautiful psalm, and I’m thankful for songwriters like Matt Redman, who focus our attention on the goodness of God and call us to worship Him no matter our circumstances.”

4. “Livestrong Christianity”By Tullian Tchividjian – Tchividjian says: “The hope of the Christian faith is dependent on God’s display of strength, not ours. God is in the business of destroying our idol of self-sufficiency in order to reveal himself as our sole sufficiency.”

5. Looking to Christ in the Loss of a ChildBy Jason DeRouchie – DeRouchie notes: “When the mourning of loss is matched by faith in Jesus, there are fresh mercies with every dawn, all because we know what it means to look on the one who was pierced for us. In this, we have hope and promised help for our battle against sin and for the times when those we love are gone. In Christ, grief will not have the last word.”

Matt Manry is the Director of Discipleship at Life Bible Church in Canton, Georgia. He is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Religion at Reformed Theological Seminary and a Masters of Arts in Christian and Classical Studies from Knox Theological Seminary. He blogs regularly at gospelglory.net.
