Credo’s Cache

Each week we will be highlighting important resources. Check back each Friday to see what we have dug up for you. From this week’s cache:

1. 2013 John Reed Miller Lecture Series – Rev. Kevin DeYoung: By RTS Jackson – Check out DeYoung’s message series on how a Biblical sermon can be so boring.

2. Don’t Tell Me Your Kid’s Sins: By Megan Hill – Megan notes: “God dealt with our sins individually and personally, and, likewise, parents do best when they whisper the gospel into the ears of the little rebels on our laps—whose cookie-snatching, wall-decorating, and tantrum-throwing was specifically and lovingly atoned for on the cross.”

3. Progressing Downward: By Tullian Tchividjian – Tullian notes: “So, the Christian life is a progression. But it’s not an upward progression from weakness to strength—it’s a downward progression from strength to weakness.”

4. Extracting Nectar From a Painted Rose: By Scott Oliphint – Oliphint notes: “Sometimes, when problems this deep confront us, eloquence can be an enemy. When considering the problem of suffering and evil, Job’s response of silence and worship, in the presence of God’s infinite wisdom and glory, is the only proper place to begin.”

5. Did Justin Martyr Know the Gospel of John?: By Michael Kruger – Dr. Kruger notes: “But, can we trace the fourfold gospel back even further?  Justin Martyr, an early Christian apologist writing c.150-160, is a key player in this debate.  He clearly knows the Synoptic Gospels—Matthew, Mark and Luke. But did he know John?”

Matt Manry is the Director of Discipleship at Life Bible Church in Canton, Georgia. He is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Religion at Reformed Theological Seminary and a Masters of Arts in Christian and Classical Studies from Knox Theological Seminary. He blogs regularly at gospelglory.net.
